Zygaenidae
Zygaenidae — commonly known as burnet moths, forester moths, or, depending on the group, leaf-skeletonizing moths — are a family of Lepidoptera found in many regions throughout the world. They belong to the order Lepidoptera and the superfamily Zygaenoidea.
Unlike most moths, many species of Zygaenidae are active during the daytime. They are often easily recognized by their metallic or strongly contrasting coloration, which may include shades of red, blue, green, or black. These bright colors frequently serve as a warning to predators, as many species possess chemical defenses that make them unpalatable or toxic.
